The International Relations Department

The International Relations Department (Direction des Relations Internationales, DRI), is a central service of the University of Strasbourg. Its main missions are the following:
·      Implementing the University’s international policy
·      Strengthening the University’s attractiveness by developing its European and international dimension
·      Supporting the internationalization of the University in a transversal way, by including all faculties and central services
The International Relations Department, placed under the responsibility of the Vice-President for International relations, implements the University’s international relations policy, encourages cooperation and networks, develops mobility and measures the international activities.
The International Relations Department is made up of five divisions, each one having a specific mission.

Other actors responsible for international cooperation

The International University House (Maison Universitaire Internationale) brings together all services dedicated to welcoming international students and researchers. Several departments and services are grouped together in one building: the International Relations Department, the University Life Department, the Research and Development Department, and the European groupment of territorial cooperation Eucor – The European Campus.

The EURAXESS Service Center helps foreign researchers, doctoral students, post-doctoral students and teacher-researchers hosted at the University of Strasbourg in their preparation of their arrival, stay and installation in Alsace. The partnership agreement concluded with the Prefecture of the Bas-Rhin allows an accelerated procedure for applying for a residence permit.

Eucor - The European Campus is a cross-border university grouping to which the University of Strasbourg belongs. This project, which is transversal to the whole establishment, brings together numerous central services as well as the faculties, research units and doctoral schools.
At the University of Strasbourg, the Eucor - Team supports students, doctoral students, teacher-researchers and administrative staff in the preparation of any mobility or cross-border cooperation project within the grouping.

The France Japan University (MUFJ), a service proposed by the University of Strasbourg, promotes and encourages academic exchanges between the University of Strasbourg and Japan.
The multiple activities of the MUFJ include in particular:
-             The organization of colloquiums, conferences, round tables ... on Japan
-             The dissemination of information facilitating the mobility of students, teachers and researchers between France and Japan
-             The welcoming of Japanese delegations and the making of contacts with their academic and scientific partners at the University of Strasbourg

In 2015, the Research and Development Department has created the "International Hub" within the Doctoral College. It is a window for international activities concerning doctoral students and partner universities setting up co-supervisions with the University of Strasbourg.
The manager of the International Hub provides support in setting up projects for co-tutorship agreements, manages the Erasmus+ mobility for doctoral students, as well as the mobility grants from the Doctoral College and monitors the International Doctoral Program. The organization of language tests is also part of the service's missions.

For non-French-speaking students, teachers or trainees, the University of Strasbourg provides French as a foreign language courses within the framework of a joint service called the International Institute of French Studies (IIEF).
Main mission: To provide biannual and annual courses in French from beginner to advanced levels (levels A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - CEFRL) in initial and continuing education, courses leading to university diplomas.
